Craig Raley Date: 1/25/2012 | Joyce, Janice, Carol. This is your cousin Craig. I talked to your Mom in December and she sounded great. Every time I did talk to her It was like we had just spoken the day before. That was Aunt Doris. She took me to a movie in evans city and she took me to a county fair. I willl always remember her laugh and her love of life. I visited over the years and it was always like I had never been gone. I just missed her by minutes at the Crestview church in 2010 when I showed up. She could pound a keyboard and flick switches on an organ like nobody else. One word I will never associate with her is sorry. She was always a blessing. If you ever needed a reason to stop feeling sorry for yourself just talk to Doris for five minutes. I stayed in touch, probably not enough. Life does that to us all. She set the standard for the rest of us to follow.
Love, Your cousin Craig! I have no current phone Numbers. My e-mail is Raley57@ yahoo. com. I love you guys. I will try to get there. I know it is a very sad thing. Please try to keep your heads up. |
Jeanne Wassum Date: 1/25/2012 | So sorry for your loss, Janice. I know how much you will miss her.
The Butler Eagle article about your mother a few months back was so nice. It's so encouraging to see people that remain active and relatively healthy at her age. The article also reminded me that your mom and my mom were friends in high school. I had often heard the story about how they played piano at lunchtime. |
Chrissy Davis Date: 1/25/2012 | I am so sorry to hear about Doris, she was such a sweat lady. To this day every time I see a piano I think of her. She sure could play beautifully! Your family is in my thoughts. Chrissy (Nella Fester’s daughter) |

So sorry to hear about your mother, my prayers are with you. |
Wayne & Peggy Roccia Date: 1/24/2012 | At times like this we mourn over our loss of such a wonderful person. Perhaps it is also time to rejoice for the joy we have had in knowing such a wonderful woman. Always with a warm welcome and probably the most recognizable laugh in all of this area. All of us that knew Doris will sorely miss her. Those of us that got to enjoy her music at Crestview will always long to see and hear her again from the piano or organ. We have always know that she played with Angels on her fingers and now she plays beside them. God Bless her and her entire family. |
Patti Raley Date: 1/24/2012 | I would like to send sincerest condolences to my cousins Carol, Janice, and Joyce. I heard this morning that your mother passed away yesterday. You were all so close and I know you will miss her. She lived a blessed life. At Christmas she sent a copy of the article about her long years as the church pianist. Oh, how I remember Aunt Doris playing the piano when I was a child. Now she is accompanying the heavenly choir. May God bless you at this time of sadness. |
