Janet F. Hicks Maxwell, age 88, of Evans City passed away Wednesday morning January 3, 2024 in UPMC Passavant, McCandless Twp.
Born December 27, 1935 in Evans City, she was the daughter of the late W. George and Edna Walker Hicks.
She was of the Protestant Faith.
Janet was a registered nurse. She graduated from Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing and then became a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Janet practiced her profession from 1956 through 2012. She retired as Senior Vice President of Operations from PennMed Consultants after 30 years of service.
Janet was an active member of the Butler Little Theater from the 1960’s through the 1980’s. She served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for several seasons and performed on stage as well as behind the scenes and directed several shows during those years.
Janet had a passion for dogs and leaves behind her dog, Flo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George E. Hicks.
Janet is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Maxwell, who she married August 25, 1962: one son, Scott (Sandra Best) Maxwell of Slippery Rock; one sister, Doris Bauder of Zelienople; two granddaughters, Brigitte J. Maxwell and Annaliese P. Maxwell; one niece, Cheryl Bauder Schoeffel; two nephews, Jeffrey Bauder and William Hicks.
All funeral arrangements were held privately by her family.
Arrangements were by the Kinsey-Volz Funeral Home, Evans City.
