James E. Rape, age 68 of Evans City passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 17, 2021, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless Twp.
Born in Butler March 14, 1952, he was the son of Edythe Double Rape Burger and the late Edwin Rape
He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Evans City.
Jim was the proud owner of the Evans City Auto Parts. It started in 1926 by Ed Spithaler, known as Ed Spithaler Auto Parts. It was then sold to Howard Spithaler in 1946. The name was changed in 1966 when Jim’s dad, Edwin purchased the store and changed the name to Evans City Auto Parts. In 1989 Jim obtained ownership of the store from his father. Jim has maintained it since then. It has been a place for local gatherings for the men of town to get local gossip, a few scratch offs, a wiper blade, car battery, or any other car part, from locally owned store.
He was a life member of the Evans City Volunteer Fire Co. He served as the Chairman of Forward Twp. Planning Committee. Jim also was a member of the Evans City Sportsman Club.
He loved camping, riding his horse, spending time riding his motorcycle. He was a loving and devoted husband.
Jim is survived by his wife, Cindy Zattiero Rape, his mother Edythe of Mt. Chestnut, one sister Marjorie (David) Carey of Mt, Chestnut, niece and nephews, Starr Zattiero, Z J Zattiero, Aaron(Shelley) Natali and Brian Natali, three great nephews, Alex Zattiero, Dominic and James Natali, and a special friend Mark Hannah.
Friends of James E. Rape who passed away on Wednesday will be received on Sunday from noon till 4:00 P.M.. at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City . Services will follow on Sunday
