George E. Hicks, age 86, formerly of Evans City, passed peacefully Wed. afternoon Oct. 23, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.
Born February 10, 1927, in Evans City, he was the son of the late William G. and Edna Walker Hicks.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Evans City.
He had retired from the Maintenance Dept. of Armco Steel, Butler, with over 40 years of service.
George was a member of Harmony Lodge # 429 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Fehl Hicks, on Nov. 11, 2008, and a daughter Vicki June 8, 1965.
He is survived by one son, William G. Hicks of Sewickley; two sisters, Doris Bauder of Zelienople and Mrs. Janet (Tom) Maxwell of Evans City; four grandchildren, C. Michele Ntampaka, Jonathan W., Kaylyn N. and Matthew A. Hicks; two great grandchildren; and other loving family members.
The family of George E. Hicks, who died on Oct. 23, 2013, will receive friends on Monday Oct. 28, 2013, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Evans City from noon till 12:30 P.M. when Harmony lodge will hold a Masonic Services. A memorial service will be at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Dr. Verna Call his pastor officiating.
The family has suggested memorial donations in memory of George may be made to the Butler Co. Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Rd., Renfrew, PA 16053, or to St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, PA 16033.
