Carolyn J. Hummel Zehmisch Cook, age 73, of Connoquenessing, died Friday morning October 11, 2013, in VNA Hospice, Butler.
Born Feb. 20, 1940, in Rocky Grove, Venango Co., she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Edna Stitzinger Hummel.
Mrs Cook was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Connoquenessing, where she was active with the women's group.
She retired after 12 years from Evergreen Nursing Center as an LPN.
She was an avid baker. She made many afghans, one of her greates joys was making Caps for Kids through Project Linus.
She was preceeded in death by her first husband, Walter R. Zehmisch on Aug. 30, 1991; two brothers, Harold and Harry Humell.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, George Cook, whom she married May 18, 1994; four daughters, Linda (Verne) Thompson of West Sunbury, Anne Uram of Callery, Allison Zehmisch of Butler, and Linda (John) Chrapowitzky of NY; three sons, John (Irene) Zehmisch of AZ, Robert "Bob" Zehmisch of Pittsburgh, Michael (Jennifer) Zehmisch of Butler; one-step daughter, Joan Martin of Bethel Park; two step-sons, Stephen Spisak of Connoquenessing and George (Alene) Cook of GA; one sister, Louise Bacher of CO.; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family of Carolyn J. Hummel Zehmisch Cook, who died on Friday October 11, 2013, will welcome friends on Sunday October 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Kinsey-Volz F.H., 328 West Main St., Evans City, PA 16033. Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. from St. John's Lutheran Church, Connoquenessing.
