Walter C. McConaughy, age 80, of New Brighton, died Saturday August 10, 2013, at his residence.
Born April 25, 1933, in Bethesda, Ohio, he was the son of the late Carl and Dorothy Keiser McConaughy.
Walter was of the Baptist Faith.
He retired as a security guard from Horseheads Ind., Monaca, with over 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and an infant, and one infant grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Doris M. Rape McConaughy, whom he married May 3, 1960; six daughters, and five sons and their spouses, Cheryl Milligan and Cynthia Froehlich both of OH, Mary Steiner of Calif., Donna Fath and Sally Nemcek both of New Brighton, and Darlene Hilliard of Rochester; Glenn of New Brighton, Melvin of Chippewa, Mark of OH, Donald of Beaver, and Tim of Enon Valley, three sisters, Luella Kidd, Shirley Chappell and Priscilla Warrwick all of Ohio, 28 grandchildren, one special grandchild Melissa who cared for him, 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
The family of Walter who died on Sat. August 10, 2013, will receive family and friends on Tuesday August 13, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kinsey-Volz Funeral Home Evans City, Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Mark Ours of the First Baptist Church of New Brighton. Burial will follow in the Evans City Cemetery.
