Alexander W. "Alex" Lukes, age 85, of Zelienople, went home to be with his Lord, Monday morning January 28, 2013, with his family beside him.
Born in Zelienople, September 17, 1927, he was the son of Steven and Mary Peksza Lukes.
He was a member of Zelienople-Harmony United Methodist Church.
He had worked as a welder for Halstead for 20 years, after their closing he went to work for Bilico retiring after 20 years. He also worked for Exxon for 7 years.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a 3rd Class. He was a member of Siebenburger Club, he enjoyed going to Erie and traveling. He loved pitching horseshoes.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife Joyce "Cookie" Kline Lukes, whom he married, August 11, 1951; two daughters, Mary Alyce (David) Gaibis of New Castle and Vickie (Dennis) Hussar of Zelienople; one son, Elek C. (Annette) Lukes of Uniontown Ohio, one sister, Helen Dehass of Zelienople; 6 grandchildren, Jayson Bankert, Alexa Lenhart, Matthew Palerino, Margaret Palerino, Meesha Lukes and Myla Lukes; 3 great grandchildren, Brayden, Bryson, and Madeline.
Relatives and friends of Alex Lukes, who passed away January 28, 2013, will be received on Thursday January 30, 2013, from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9. at the Kinsey-Volz F.H. 114 West Spring Street, Zelienople Pa, 16063. Funeral services will be held at the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church on Friday, Feburary 1, 2013, at 11:00 A.M.
