Robert L. "Rags" McGinley, age 67, of Renfrew, passed away Monday evening, October 1, 2012, at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler after a 7 1/2 year battle with Colon Cancer.
Born in Butler, on June 9, 1945, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Annabele Shannon McGinley.
He was a member of White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, Renfrew. He retired from Armco in the Maintenance Dept. of the Melt Shop, after 32 years. He also operated McGinley Engine Service.
Rags adored his grandchildren and loved to watch them play sports and attend their dance recitals. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and especially camping at Treasure Lake. He read and did crossword puzzles and he liked NASCAR, and traveling. Rags enjoyed having breakfast on Thursday's, which was called the Hunkie Breakfast. He also ate breakfast in the morings with his Evans City Buddies. He also enjoyed watching Western Movies and Gunsmoke.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Ann Reismeyer Jackman.
He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Rice McGinley, whom he married November 15, 1965, two daughters, Melissa (Denny) Troyan of East Butler and Molly (Jeff) Hilliard of Brees Port, NY. his grandchildren, Taylor and Mackenzie Troyan and Levi and Cameron Hilliard; His niece and nephew, Teresa Riesmeyer of Pittsburgh and Michael Reismeyer of Butler. Also his dog Max, who was his faithful friend and companion.
Friends and relatives of Robert L. "Rags" McGinley, who died on October 1, 2012, will be received, at the Kinsey-Volz Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Evans City, PA 16033, on Thursday October 4, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Services will be on Friday October 5, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. from the funeral home.
